RED RIVER

This artistic work is inspired by a trip made along the routes in 2023, guided by the thirst for knowledge of the history of the United States, these trails took me to Pipestone, Minnesota. In that place, history becomes present with the first natives of America, the extraction of this stone by hand was common, artisanal quarries were formed in the rivers. It is in tribute to the South Dakota Sioux and their spirit of survival, which leads me to praise the indigenous cause by making this great unique and original piece in the original "Pipestone" of Minnesota.

Pipestone is found in only a few places worldwide. Pipestone is also called Catlinite after George Catlin. A hard, reddish stone laboriously quarried by hand. The formation pipestone began over 1.5 billion years ago when a braided river covered what is now southwest Minnesota.
